OmniCon privacy policy

OmniCon collects no personal information. There is no account to create, nothing is sent to us, and we have no way of knowing who uses the app or what they convert with it.

Effective 29 August 2026. Applies to OmniCon for iPhone, iPad and Mac, published by Algonquin Works LLC.

What the app stores on your device

OmniCon remembers a few things so that it opens where you left it: the number you last typed and its unit, the conversions you have saved to the bench and the names and groups you gave them, the units you have starred, and your settings. All of this is kept in the app's own storage on your device. It is never transmitted to Algonquin Works.

Saved conversions are also registered with the device's search feature (Spotlight) so that you can find them from the home screen. That index is maintained by the operating system and stays on the device; deleting a saved conversion removes its entry.

What leaves your device, and why

Currency rates. Currency is the only quantity whose figures the app does not carry with it, because exchange rates change daily. When you use the currency quantity, the app fetches the day's reference rates from the European Central Bank's public rate service. That request contains no information about you or your conversions; like any request to a public web address, it does reveal your device's network address to the bank's server, which is outside our control. No other feature of the app uses the network.

iCloud sync, if you turn it on. OmniCon can keep your bench the same across your devices. This uses Apple's iCloud, under your own Apple Account: the data travels between your devices and your iCloud storage, and Algonquin Works has no access to it. Apple's handling of iCloud data is described in Apple's privacy policy. Sync is off unless you turn it on, and you can turn it off again in Settings at any time; doing so stops further copying but does not delete what is already in your iCloud storage, which you can remove through the device's iCloud settings.

Handoff and Siri. If you use Handoff to continue a conversion on another of your devices, or run a saved conversion through Siri or the Shortcuts app, the operating system carries the details between your own devices. Nothing is sent to us.

Purchases

Any purchase made inside the app is processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple tells the app only whether the purchase is active; we do not receive your name, payment details, or Apple Account.

Third parties

OmniCon contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or other third-party software. The only outside parties involved are Apple, which operates the App Store, iCloud and the device features described above, and the European Central Bank, whose public rate service the app reads. We share no user data with anyone, because we hold none.

Keeping and deleting your data

Because everything the app stores is on your device, you are in charge of it. Deleting a saved conversion removes it. Deleting the app removes everything it stored, including the Spotlight entries. If you used iCloud sync, data already copied to iCloud can be removed through the device's iCloud settings under the app's name. There is nothing held by Algonquin Works to delete, and so no request to make.

Children

The app is not directed at children and, since it collects nothing, gathers no information from anyone of any age.

Changes

If a future version of the app collects anything, this policy will say so before that version is released, and the date at the top will change.
