ReBayes support
Questions, problems and requests go to one person, and he answers them.
Email info@algonquinworks.com. If a result looks wrong, please include the numbers you entered and, if you can, a reference to the paper — the app has a share button that puts all of that in one link.
Things people ask
Which number do I enter as the "postulated" effect?
The effect size the investigators used in their sample-size calculation. It is usually in the Methods section, in the paragraph that begins "we calculated that … patients would give … power to detect …". The app's help has a worked example from a real paper for both a binary and a continuous outcome.
Where does the prior come from?
From you. The app shows the answer for a range of prior beliefs, and it also tells you how much prior belief the result would need before it should convince a reader — so you can judge the result without committing to a single number.
The web version and the app give the same answer?
Yes. They are built from the same calculations and checked against the same set of test cases.
Does it work offline?
Entirely. Nothing you enter leaves the device.
